What's the Difference Between Sales and Marketing?
Pulling apart another false conflation of terms.
I’ve never been exceptional at the sales/marketing side of running a business. I prefer the technical side of things, but have been very fortunate in having the right people to lean on in this area for WAND and other ventures I’ve been involved in.
See how I lumped those 2 terms together up there? What’s the deal with that?
I found myself wondering this as I was looking for resources on how to up my independent skillset in these 2 areas. The example seemed similar to the simple/easy grouping I talked about a while back, where the seemingly similar terms are in fact more distinct than what one may expect.
Here’s what I gathered in utmost brevity —
Sales : Marketing ::
Asking : Storytelling
Math : Art
Flirting : Attracting
Linear : Exponential
Capitalizing : Generating
People : Product
Commission : Salary
Make sense?
If not…check-out this video by Patrick Bet-David where he dives a little deeper into the idea.
