Glad to see you're posting follow-ups on this topic. I thought your Lizard Science post was very interesting and had me me wondering how much of my own field can be lizarded and what I would do if I could, hypothetically, set up a millikelvin lab in my (hypothetical) garage.
How do you plan to deal with equipment maintenance requirements and the costs thereof? Presumably some of the apparatus you're getting would be very challenging to fix without a service call.
